Lisinopril is a common medication taken to treat high blood pressure and prevent heart failure. Lisinopril is a type of ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors essentially prevent heart failure by decreasing chemicals that tighten the blood vessels. Thus, blood is able to flow more smoothly.

Lisinopril needs to be prescribed by a doctor in order for one to use it. Like any medication, it must be taken in the appropriate dosage or many become more harmful than helpful to one’s body. Lisinopril is usually administered as a liquid or a pill.
